Corporate Business Management
The concept of corporate governance and its principles are part of the knowledge that an entrepreneur must acquire in order to know how to run a company sustainably.
Although it may seem like something that only applies to large enterprises, businesses of all sizes can benefit from corporate governance practices.
What is corporate governance?
The basic meaning of the term "corporate management" is: the set of actions involved in running a business.
Therefore, it would be the management of all the sectors and resources of a company, including its finances and employees, in order to achieve near-optimal efficiency.
In other words, corporate governance is a set of practices to be adopted by a company to strengthen it and align the interests of the various parties involved.
These parties include partners, directors, shareholders, employees and other stakeholders.
In addition, corporate management must align the interests of the parties involved with the determinations of the bodies responsible for supervising and regulating the company.
What are the principles of corporate governance?
Corporate governance is based on 4 basic principles:
1) Transparency
This refers to the practice of making information available to interested parties, not just by legal or regulatory imposition.
The principle of transparency should not be restricted to the company's financial performance, but can include other aspects linked to the management of the business that contribute to its continuity and value.
2) Fairness
This consists of treating all members and other stakeholders fairly and impartially, taking into account their rights, obligations, needs, interests and expectations.
3) Accountability
It complements the principle of transparency, establishing that corporate management agents must account for their actions in a clear, objective, understandable and timely manner.
In addition, they must assume the consequences of their actions and play their roles responsibly.
4) Corporate responsibility
According to this principle, governance agents must ensure the maintenance and growth of the company, considering its financial, human, intellectual and environmental capital, etc., reducing actions with a negative impact and increasing positive results.
